How my son uses the Internet [Jun. 6th, 2006|08:04 am]

My son, who is 6 1/2 years old, recently started spending a large amount of time on Lego's web site, specifically the Batman section.  He continually watches the videos and watches the commercials.  When I told him not to leave the Lego web site (he's still young enough that I can trust him to do what I ask), he told me, in no uncertain terms, that the only thing on the Internet in which he is interested is Legos.  We'll see how long that lasts.

Then I showed him the search box — and the first thing he searched for was on sale.  If he had a credit card, I'd be in big trouble.

You know, same as it ever was [Jun. 1st, 2006|07:33 am]

To Whom It May Concern:

I love Mark Morford:

Look, the plague of sexual incompetence plagues our land like a plague. It infects our schools, our popular culture, our presidential administration. The right endorses wanton sexual stupidity (and all ensuing miseries, drug addictions, divorces, stresses, gun fetishes, online porn obsessions) through failed abstinence programs, STD misinformation, refusal to support quality birth control and the relentless repetition of lies about sin and depravity and a shocking ignorance of the transformative spiritual power of sex. Purity Balls? Nothing but a sad celebration of that exact ignorance.

Everything the man writes is pure gold.
